Known Problems
KNOWN FILENAMING PROBLEMS (DUE TO WIRING PROBLEMS) FOR 2004 and 2005 data:
*.FABA.HGZ_XE --- Should be HGN_XE
*.FABA.HGN_XE --- Should be HGZ_XE
*.FABB.HGE_1E --- Should be HGN_1E (but OK before some day in 2004)
*.FABB.HGE_2E --- Should be HGN_2E (but OK after some day in 2004)
*.FABB.HGN_2E --- should be HGE_2S
*.FABB.HGE_2S --- should be HGN_2E
*.FABF.HGN_AE --- Polarity should be switched
*.FABI.HGN_GE --- Should be HGE_GS
*.FABI.HGE_GS --- Should be HGN_GE
CORRECTIONS MADE IN December, 2005:
*.FABA.HGZ_XE and *.FABA.HGN_XE sensor wires were switched at digitizer on Dec. 13, 2005, 1 pm PST. File names should correspond to correct sensors now.
*.FABB.HGN_2E and *.FABB.HGE_2S sensor wires were switched at digitizer on Dec. 13, 2005, 1 pm PST. File names should correspond to correct sensors now.
*.FABF.HGN_AE polarity was switched at digitizer on Dec. 13, 2005, 1 pm PST.
*.FABI.HGN_GE and *.FABI.HGE_GS sensor wires were switched at digitzer on Dec. 13, 2005, 1 pm PST. File names should correspond to correct sensors now.
All channel names were switched from *.HG* to *.HN* and from *.EG* to *.EN* on Dec. 27, 2005, 11:50 am PST, to reflect commonly-used channel naming convention for high sample rate, strong ground motion data.
*.FABB.HGE_1E was renamed *.FABB.HGN_1E on Jan. 4, 2006.
REMAINING PROBLEMS WITH 2006, 2007 data:
*.FABB.HGE_2S and *.FABB.HGN_2W sensor wires need to be switched at digitizer.

filenaming problems
I have some problem to understand some of the "known problems" about the names of the sensors.
1) In the section "Known filenaming problems for 2004 and 2005 data" is written that:
*.FABB.HGE_2S --- should be HGN_2E
In the section "Corrections made in 2005" is written that:
*.FABB.HGN_2E and *.FABB.HGE_2S sensor wires were switched at digitizer on Dec. 13, 2005, 1 pm PST. File names should correspond to correct sensors now.
In the section "Remaining problems with 2006, 2007 data" is written that:
*.FABB.HGE_2S and *.FABB.HGN_2W sensor wires need to be switched at digitizer.
I cannot understand is a new error was introduced in E_2S that became N_2W or if there is an error in this last sentence.
2) The sentence "Polarity should be switched" means that the sign of data has to be changed?
3) Parameter IDEP in the SAC files is set equal to 7 that should mean "velocity". It seems to me that recorded data are instead acceleration data. Is this correct?
